My wife June and I moved from High Wycombe, Bucks to live in Fulbeck in 2018 to be near to family with the intention of retirement. This did not happen
Just as Covid19 hit us, I decided to start up BB Travel Fulbeck (Private Hire/Taxi Business) providing transport for local and distant travel as well as Airport/Seaport transfers.
With us moving to Lincolnshire from High Wycombe, we still have a strong and lasting friendship with June and Brian Taylor of T.S. Jaguar (Sea Cadets). They have for over 50 years worked together as a team to try and keep T.S. Jaguar afloat (excuse the pun). Through all the different hard and difficult times, they have dedicated their lives to the cause and are still sailing on. Ooops . Done it again.
Both my wife and I over many years have in some form or other have been associated with the unit both on and off the committee doing our best to assist them, by trying to help raise money for repairs and upkeep.
Some of the events which we have organised were events such as Maggot Racing, Car Treasure Hunt like the TV programme featuring big bum Aneka Rice (with helicopter). Our event similar to today’s event had a twist. We determined areas that the teams were aware of, they were given clues to what they were looking for, and had to get the correct answers, to make thing a bit different and more difficult all the clues were in rhyme which made things hilarious listening to some of the interpretations they came up with.
The evening ended the event with a prize giving for the winners and a massive prize raffle with donations from lots of shops, pubs, restaurant’s and other businesses, followed by a Knicker Jump competition with the host being the camera man who held the record on the Dave Edmunds TV Show who I met at Amersham Hospital where he was a radio DJ for them. The evening ended with a fabulous disco to finish the day off, Raising over £3000 which in those days was a serious amount of money.
Having been involved with June & Brian and T.S. Jaguar for so many years and seeing the hard work they both put in and the difficulties endured (even with covid) they have proudly managed to see a lot of their cadets join both the Royal Navy and the Marines, Credit and respect to them and their team.
So it is from my deepest heart that I dedicate Maggot Racing Events to T.S. Jaguar (High Wycombe)
Thank you all for your support
